We are delighted to bring to you 550 REFLECTIONS, a black-tie event celebrating the “Year of Skanderbeg" through Art, Culture, Music & Storytelling.
550 Reflections Event
Saturday, December 8th, 2018
6pm – midnight
Great Hall – Hart House, University of Toronto
7 Hart House Circle, Toronto, M5S 3H3
Join us in a celebratory evening, to honour and pay tribute to the 550th anniversary of the death of the Albanian national hero, George Kastrioti Skanderbeg (Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu). Since this event also coincides with the 106th anniversary of Albanian Independence Day, we will celebrate the Albanian culture and values through storytelling, art and music, with the broader Canadian society and all of its diverse communities.
Art is a cornerstone of Albanian culture and we know there is no better way to transcend messages and emotions than through art. As such, expect to be indulged by various forms of art throughout the night including a painting exposition featuring artwork created by distinguished Albanian artists who will also be in attendance.
Albanians are well-known for their commitment to the value of “Besa", keeping one’s word, especially in helping others, which has deeply shaped Albanian culture. To emphasize this value, ACE Society has invited members of the Jewish community in Toronto to honour the history of survival of the members of the Jewish community in Albania during WWII.
